Three lucky schools, courtesy of their students, will win tablets from Grace Foods (GK Foods) in its ‘Move like a Champ’ school spirit promotion.

The promotion, which ended on March 30 invited students to submit a 90-second video showing their school spirit through lyrics and dance, using the GK100 riddim.

The first-place school will win 100 tablets, while second and third-place schools will win 50 and 25 tablets respectively. In addition to the tablets, each school will also receive nutritional support from GK Foods.

“The ‘Move like a Champ’ promotion is a celebration of the school spirit and friendly rivalry that naturally pulsates the atmosphere during the lead up to Champs every year. Our team is excited to review the submissions and reward the lucky schools”, said Andrew Anguin, Senior Marketing Manager, Grace Foods.

The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships (Champs) gets underway on April 5 at the National Stadium and will culminate on April 9.

Anguin shared that GK Foods had received 11 valid submissions for the promotion.

“At GraceKennedy (GK), our involvement and investment in Champs is one of many ways we show our commitment to the development of our nation’s schools, youth, sports and the extended community; we understand the power and influence of sport, and the many opportunities that can come from youth involvement in sport”, said Anguin.

In 2022 GK’s investment in Champs is valued at over J$88 million. At the Champs launch on March 21 GK Group CEO, Don Wehby announced a special GK100 metre award for this year’s event in celebration of GK’s 100th anniversary. The award is an educational grant of J$100,000 for the winner in each class of the 100m finals and each team in each class of the 4x100m finals, 14 winners total. Each winner’s school will also receive a J$100,000 grant to invest in a school-upliftment project.

“It is such an exciting time for us at GraceKennedy this year as we celebrate 100 years. Our continued support of Champs allows us to be part of the rich legacy of athletics in Jamaica while giving back in a tangible way to students and schools, and other key stakeholders who form integral parts of the sports eco-system”, said Anguin.

Winning schools in the GK Foods ‘Move like a Champ’ promotion will be announced during the culminating ceremony at Champs on Saturday, April 9.

GK has been sponsoring the ISSA Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships since 2007.
