Nyla Simpson, 7, passed away on Friday after battling Wilms tumour.
Nyla Simpson, the seven-year-old whose mother appealed for help to raise funds as she battled Stage 4 Wilms tumour, has passed away.
She died on Friday.
“It is with deep sadness to share the most heartbreaking news of our little warrior. Nyla, who was battling Stage 4 Wilms Tumour, has earned her wings this (Friday) morning,” a short statement from the family said on Friday.
Nyla was diagnosed with stage 4 Wilms tumour in 2019. Her condition became critical, with doctors this week recommending palliative care for the seven-year-old and her mother, Shaneel Simpson, appealing for help to access advanced treatment options abroad.
“We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in Nyla’s journey. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and love that we have received from our community and beyond,” the statement said on Friday. “Your kind gestures, whether big or small, have meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful.” The family also thanked everyone who helped to spread awareness about Nyla’s battle with Wilms tumour. “Your reposts, shares, and messages have been instrumental in raising awareness about this rare and aggressive cancer,” the family said. “While we are heartbroken by Nyla’s passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and no longer suffering. We ask that you keep Nyla and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. “Thank you again for your support, and may Nyla’s memory lives on as a testament to the power of love and community,” the statement ended.
