Businessman identified as suspect held for illegal gun possession Loop Jamaica

Thirty-three-year-old Alkeino Maragh, a businessman of Tollgate, Frome, Westmoreland, has been charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition following and incident on Wednesday, March 15.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 2:29 pm, law enforcers were on patrol on the Three Mile River main road in the parish capital, when Maragh was seen driving a motorcycle, and was signalled to stop.

He reportedly disobeyed the officers, and sped off, then subsequently turned into a yard.

He was pursued and was allegedly seen removing a gun from his waistband, which turned out to be a Taurus 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing eleven 9mm rounds of ammunition.

He was accosted and arrested, and was subsequently charged.

A court date for him is being finalised.
