Protest in August Town over fatal shooting of man cops’ describe as a don

Police are keeping a close watch on sections of August Town where a man they described as an area don was fatally shot.

Police are claiming they went to the Gold Smith Villa section of the community when the man, Marvin Markland, otherwise known as Papa, was cut down during a reported confrontation.

He was the reputed don of the Gold Smith Villa gang, police sources have claimed.

Residents are however claiming he was killed in cold blood.

The residents said they heard gunshots after a police team arrived in the area and minutes later were told the man was injured and rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) has since launched an investigation in the matter.. 

Polictical representative in the area have also joined the protestors.

PNP caretaker for Eastern St. Andrew, Patricia Duncan Sutherland, a member of the Opposition PNP spoke about the incident.
