A massive search is now underway in Montego Bay for two people who were reportedly swept away in floodwaters in the resort area of St James on Tuesday.
According to reports reaching Loop News, a group of people was travelling in a car at about 3:30 pm when the vehicle got trapped in floodwaters caused by heavy rains.
Sources report that they later saw the car being swept into the Barnett River that is close to the West Gate section of the parish.
Reports are that the male driver and a young female passenger managed to escape before the vehicle plunged into the river with the woman and child.
Emergency personnel was called to the area and a search was organised to locate the two missing persons.
