Popular radio personality DJ Sunshine recently delivered Christmas cheer to Stony Hill Primary and Infant School students in St Andrew with a surprise visit bearing gifts.

This marked the second time this year that the veteran disc jockey from Irie FM in St Ann visited the school, donating educational and personal gifts to both the institution and its children.

Educator Colleen Banks-Williams commended the generous act, describing it as ‘timely’ because it brought joy to the 71 enrolled students.

“Some of them are receiving gifts for the first time. This brightens their lives; they are all overwhelmed, as are we, their teachers. We are all excited and grateful to Sunshine for thinking of us,” said Banks-Williams.

DJ Sunshine beamed with pride during her visit, stating that her passion for giving back is a recognition of life’s blessings.

“Whenever the Almighty blesses you, it’s for the greater good. I’m honoured to give back and have the opportunity to bless others. I’ve been supporting various communities, individuals, and schools since 2014 through my registered Yellow Moon Foundation,” Sunshine explained.

She also emphasised the school’s pivotal role in her development and called for more support for Jamaica’s education system.

“Help in any way you can. Many schools and teachers in this country are capable and eager to educate our children optimally, but sometimes they lack support and consistency.

“Although small, I believe my gesture contributes to an essential cause here. I also think more can be done to support education in Jamaica, which is my appeal to those with resources,” she added.
