The Ministry of Health and Wellness says it has intensified its vaccination activities with a special blitz for this Heroes Day weekend-themed, “Be the Hero on the Scene by taking the COVID-19 Vaccine”.

“The Heroes Weekend vaccination thrust comes as the Ministry targets administering one million vaccine doses on or before November 30,” health authorities said in a release.

“The all-island vaccination drive takes place Saturday, October 16, to Heroes Day on Monday, October 18, 2021 with 90 vaccination sites set to open throughout the period,” the release outlined.

Members of the public are strongly encouraged to attend a vaccination site to receive their first or second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine or to get the ‘one and done’ vaccine (the single-dose Johnson & Johnson), the health ministry said.

Some centres are scheduled to open as late as 4 pm. Persons may visit www.vaccination.moh.gov.jm or the Ministry’s social media pages for the full schedule of sites and opening hours. Details are also available below.

“Jamaicans are encouraged to make their vaccination appointments online by visiting www.moh.gov.jm or by calling the Vaccination Call Centre at 888-ONE-LOVE (888-663-5683). Persons may also walk into the nearest site,” the ministry released stated.

Members of the public should take along their government-issued identification or a letter from the Justice of the Peace. Those due a second dose will also need to take their vaccination card.
