A police team from the St Andrew Central division arrested a man in relation to the seizure of an illegal firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition during an operation on Gordon Town Road, St Andrew on Friday, March 17.
Reports from the Papine police are that about 10:30 am, law enforcers were in the area when they saw a man whose actions aroused their suspicion.
On seeing the police team, the man ran and then hid an object nearby.
He was accosted and searched, and a search of the area was also conducted, and during the search, a 9mm Ruger pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds of ammunition was reportedly found.
The man was subsequently taken into custody.
His identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
