A team of officers from the St. Mary Police Division arrested a man in relation to the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition during an operation in Scott’s Hall district in the parish on Thursday, January 5.
Reports from the Annotto Bay police are that about 1:30 pm, lawmen went in the area after a complaint was made of an alleged assault by a man with a firearm in the community.
The police team went in search of the man, and he was taken into custody.
The police reported that during their investigation, the man admitted that he had the firearm.
A subsequent search of an open lot was conducted, and a CZP 9mm pistol with a magazine containing one 9mm round of ammunition was found among debris.
The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending further investigation. –
