A 60-year-old Jamaican woman was charged Tuesday in the US Virgin Islands for illegally entering the United States.

According to court documents filed by US Attorney Delia L Smith, on April 24, 2022, Veron Venita Goulbourne allegedly bought a ticket from St Thomas, USVI to Miami, Florida.

Upon inspection by US Customs and Border Protection officers at the Cyril E King Airport, it was determined that she had no legal status in the US or its territories.

Court documents said she was previously removed from the US in March 2000 after being convicted of an aggravated felony.

Goulbourne faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if she is convicted.
