JPS Preference shares led gains on Thursday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
JPS gained 24 per cent to close at $173.31 on the day, it was followed by Portland JSX up 9.5 per cent to $11.50. PBS preference shares dipped 24 per cent to $1.33 and Margaritaville Turks down 12 per cent to US$0.10.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 371.34 points ( 0.11 per cent) to close at 340,351.49 points and the volume traded amounted to 9,058,006 valued at $59,826,451.14.
The JSE Main Index advanced by 303.85 points ( 0.09 per cent) to close at 327,945.75 points and the volume traded amounted to 3,815,209 valued at $41,995,097.93.
The Junior Market Index advanced by 9.49 points ( 0.25 per cent) to close at 3,751.17 points and the volume traded amounted to 5,242,797 valued at $17,388,183.04.
The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 25.30 points ( 11.47 per cent) to close at 195.24 points and the volume traded amounted to 430,568 valued at $13,301.52.
Overall market activity resulted from trading in 123 stocks of which 48 advanced, 44 declined and 31 traded firm. The market volume leaders were Wigton Windfarm, MFS Capital Partners and Tropical Battery.
