Leeward Islands Hurricanes defeated Barbados Pride by two wickets in a come-from-behind victory during third day of the third round of matches in the West Indies Championship in Trinidad and Tobago on Friday.
Kieran Powell’s century was instrumental in the win as he top-scored with 104, leading Leewards to reach 247-8 while chasing a target of 247 at Queen’s Park Oval.
Powell’s knock included 11 boundaries and three sixes, and he partnered with skipper Jahmar Hamilton to add 120 runs to the score.
On Thursday, the Leewards were on the brink of defeat but made a comeback with the help of off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall, who took 11 wickets in the match. The Bajans were bowled out for 78 after a first-innings deficit of 168, setting up the remarkable run chase.
Cornwall hit the winning run, smashing a boundary over long off.
The final scores of the match were Barbados Pride 322 & 78, Leeward Islands Hurricanes 154 & 247-8.
