The Ministry of Health & Wellness says that steps are being taken to ensure minimal interruption in the services provided by the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the National Blood Transfusion Services (Blood Bank).
This move by the ministry comes after some categories of workers employed to the NPHL and the Blood Bank have not reported to work.
In a news release issued yesterday, the ministry stated it is collaborating with private facilities and individuals, public hospitals with laboratory services, and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) to carry out the functions in the meantime.
The release further added that the ministry has not been advised of any industrial action by the staff but based on advice of the management it is mobilising resources to carry out emergency services.
