Lyles, Seville, Hughes set for high-stakes clash at Racers Grand Prix Loop Jamaica

As the countdown to the Racers Grand Prix intensifies, track and field enthusiasts are gearing up for a spectacle unlike any other. Scheduled for Saturday, June 1, at the National Stadium, this year’s edition promises an evening of electrifying speed and fierce competition, headlined by the much-anticipated clash in the men’s 100 metres.

Leading the pack is world 100m champion, Noah Lyles. Known for his unmatched acceleration and finishing speed, Lyles has consistently dominated the sprinting scene with his impeccable technique and sheer determination. Last year, he set the meet on fire with a record-breaking performance in the men’s 200m, clocking an astonishing 19.67 seconds and solidifying his status as one of the world’s fastest athletes.

Joining Lyles in this epic showdown is Jamaican sensation, Oblique Seville. Fresh off impressive performances including a scorching 47.44-second 400m and a blazing 20.17-second 200m, Seville is poised to challenge the best in the world on home turf. His dedication, speed, and unwavering spirit make him a formidable contender and a crowd favourite.

Additionally, Ferdinand Omanyala, the fastest African ever and Great Britain’s national champion, Zharnel Hughes are also in the field. 

“I’m looking forward to racing against the guys at Racers leading up to the Olympic Games because the week after Racers I have the European Championships, so this will be a good indicator going into that championship,” Hughes said.

Lyles, in a recent tweet, expressed his excitement, stating, “Looking forward to the same amazing crowd at Racers Grand Prix!”

Tickets for the Racers Grand Prix are now available for purchase online at and, with physical tickets set to go on sale at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel starting May 24. Prices range from $5000 for finish line seats and $3000 for grandstand, to $500 for bleachers.
