Jamaica’s world champion Shericka Jackson struggled on Thursday at the Oslo Diamond League in Norway, slumping to fifth place in the women’s 200m.

The second-fastest woman of all time in the event finished a distant fifth in 22.97, a disappointing result for the 29-year-old Jackson, who had won the Marrakech Diamond League on May 19 in a time of 22.82.

Jackson was mid-pack at the turn but never found another gear and faded. It was Jackson’s first Diamond League defeat over the distance since winning gold—in a record-breaking time—at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year. It was also her first defeat in the 200m in two years.

American Brittany Brown, the 2019 world silver medallist, was the surprise winner, turning in a season’s best 22.32 from Lane 8 to clip Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith of the Ivory Coast at 22.36. Great Britain’s Daryll Neita was third at 22.50.
