Detectives in the St. Andrew South Police Division have charged a 16-year-old boy with several offences, including murder, following an incident on Seventh Street, St Andrew, which left a man dead and a teenage girl injured on October 24, 2022.

The teen, who is a resident of Seventh Street, was charged on March 21, 2023 in the presence of his attorney while in custody at the Metcalfe Juvenile Centre.

Reports are that about 2:30 pm on October 24, armed men kicked open the door to a house and shot and killed 21-year-old Shamar Muir, and also assaulted a teenage girl who was at the premises.

The police were summoned and an investigation was launched.

Following an intensive probe, the teen was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, illegal possession of ammunition, and housebreaking with intent.

Law enforcers continue to search for the other perpetrators of the fatal incident.
