End-of-year exams at some St Mary schools were thrown into disarray today (June 10) as the removal of service by taxi drivers impacted transportation across the parish.

Taxi operators, frustrated by a policy suspending licences for drivers accumulating 10 or more demerit points, withdrew their services, leaving many students and teachers stranded.

Schools like Marymount High and Port Maria High reported a sharp decline in attendance. This sudden disruption could significantly impact students taking their year-end exams, particularly at Marymount where exams commenced today.

Teachers expressed concern about some students potentially missing their exams entirely due to the lack of transportation options.

Parents are also facing a difficult situation, forced to find alternative transportation for their children during this crucial exam period.
