Taxi shot up in Lacovia, St Elizabeth; driver and passenger hit Loop Jamaica

Two men were shot and injured by unknown assailants on Saturday morning in Lacovia, St Elizabeth.

The gunmen reportedly shot up a vehicle at the entrance to Dry Harbour Main Road in Lacovia.

One of the injured men has been identified as taxi operator Audley Smellie, while the other is an unidentified male who was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting incident.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the police’s information arm, confirmed the shooting.

Reports are that a Toyota Noah motor vehicle that was being driven by Smellie, also known as ‘Tired’, was shot up by men who were travelling in a Nissan AD Wagon.

Smellie and the other man who was in the front passenger seat, were injured, and were rushed to the Black River Hospital by another taxi operator.

Both injured men were rushed into surgery and their medical conditions not yet known.
