Old rivals HOVER CRAFT and CRIMSON lock horns in Sunday’s ‘Lindy’ Delapenha Memorial at a mile at Caymanas Park, their first meeting this year after exchanging victories against each other in trophy races last season.

CRIMSON, enjoying a rich vein of form last summer, beat HOVER CRAFT by a short head to win the Legal Light Trophy at nine furlongs and 25 yards on July 31.

HOVER CRAFT, however, turned the tables on his rival in October’s Mark My Word Trophy, beating CRIMSON into third.

CRIMSON started as the overwhelming favourite when last out, March 12, but performed poorly, beaten 10 and a half lengths by imported I’VE GOT MAGIC at seven and a half furlongs.

CRIMSON did perform better in his two previous races, and could return with a bang at a mile.

HOVER CRAFT, at age 12, is down in class among overnight-allowance runners after twice placing third behind CALCULUS and ONEOFAKIND.

Since beating EROY and CRIMSON to lift the Mark My Word Trophy, HOVER CRAFT has been featuring in races above his level. Back among overnight allowance company, HOVER CRAFT has top weight 126lbs, but returns to his comfort zone with champion rider Anthony Thomas.

Dane Nelson is astride CRIMSON, hoping to slip away from late-running HOVER CRAFT. However, the ageing warrior has trained well, clocking 1:16.2 for six furlongs, and will be tough to beat when he makes his bid off the home turn.
