Police On Cubans Held In St James

Ten Cuban nationals who reportedly illegally entered Jamaica are now being processed by the St James police.

Seven of them were held on the Unity Hall main road in the parish on Saturday afternoon, and three others were apprehended at a prominent hotel in the parish on Sunday morning.

They could be charged with illegal entry and subsequently deported if found guilty of the charge.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Roderick Reid told reporters that the Cubans reached the island on boats.

The Passport, Immigration and Citizen Agency (PICA) has been called in for the processing of the Spanish-speaking group.
