Jamaica recorded 192 murders up to Saturday May 9.
That’s 61 fewer than the 253 recorded in the corresponding period last year.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, St. James had the highest murders with 26, followed by St. Andrew South with 18.
St. Andrew North had the lowest with 1 followed by Portland with 2.
Cases of rape, robberies and break-ins also declined.
Rape cases went down by 17, robberies by 42 and break-ins by 40.
