The Health and Wellness Ministry has spent approximately $3.8 billion over the past three years to rehabilitate more than 100 health centres islandwide.
Portfolio Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton provided the update during the recent handing over of the renovated Oxford Community Health Centre in St. Mary.
He said the Government is embarking on the largest refurbishing and upgrading of health centres since independence.
Dr. Tufton noted that since the passage of Hurricane Melissa last October, assessments of over 105 health centres have been initiated.
The Minister said the renovation of health centres is part of a broader thrust to nudge persons to access primary healthcare in their communities.
