Three men were shot and killed during an alleged confrontion with the police who were on operation in St James early Wednesday morning.
The police say three illegal firearms were seized during the operation.
Reports are that about 5:45 am the police went to a premises in Orange district, armed with a warrant, in search of a man.
Upon their entry to the premises, the police were reportedly greeted with gunshots from three men, including the subject of the search.
After a firefight which ensued, three men, including the subject of the search, were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were subsequently pronounced dead at hospital
The Independent Commission of Investigation has commenced a probe into the incident.
