The four alleged gunmen who were captured after a firefight with the police during a robbery that was about to be undertaken at a supermarket in Spaldings on the border of Clarendon and Manchester earlier this month, are to return to court in February of next year.
The accused were remanded in custody when they appeared in the Gun Court Division of the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston on Thursday.
The men are charged with the offences of possession of prohibited weapon; unauthorised possession of ammunition; shooting with intent; wounding with intent, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
They are 26-year-old Andre Shim-Hue, otherwise called '3D' or 'Brown Man'; 28-year-old Toney Kelly, otherwise called 'Scobie' or 'Poochie'; 28-year-old Romaine Dockery, otherwise called 'Fungo'; and 29-year-old Shevon Carnagie, all of Clarendon addresses.
They are to be brought back to court on February 27.
Reports are that about 2pm on Sunday, December 8, a police team observed a robbery that was about to be carried out at a supermarket in the town, this as men in a motorcar were seen exiting the vehicle with guns, including a rifle, in hand.
The men were accosted by the law enforcers, resulting in a gunfight, during which a policeman was injured, as well as two of the gunmen.
Further reports are that the gunmen then barricaded themselves inside a building for more than two hours.
In a surprising twist, the alleged robbers took to social media platform TikTok at a later stage of the standoff.
In a section of a video, the men were heard pleading with the police to spare their lives after they were reached.
Around 5pm, the gunmen were arrested and taken into custody.
Four firearms, including an AK-47 assault rifle, were seized by the police after the dramatic incident.
