Detectives from the Portland Police Division have charged 52-year-old Dwight Edwards, otherwise called ‘Marlon Brown’ or ‘Bawlings’, of Bryan’s Bay, Port Antonio in the parish, with several offences following an incident on Red Hassle Road in Port Antonio on Tuesday, September 17.
Edwards has been slapped with the charges of shooting with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony, and unlawful wounding.
Reports are that about 7:15 pm, a man was on his way from work when he was approached by Edwards, who opened gunfire at him.
The man was not hit, and a tussle reportedly ensued with the attacker.
During the tussle, the man bit his assailant on his right thumb, and the gun fell.
Onlookers contacted the police and on the arrival of the law enforcers, a Glock pistol and four 9mm rounds were handed over to them.
Edwards was taken into custody and was charged after an identification parade and a question-and-answer session.
A court date is being finalised for him.
