Riding the crest of a wave for championship honours at Caymanas Park, title-chasing jockeys continue their see-saw battle on Sunday after Saturday’s thrilling showdown which ended with Tevin Foster leading Raddesh Roman by two winners, both breaking the 100-barrier after starting the afternoon locked on 99 winners.

After recently enduring his rival’s streak of eight unanswered winners, Foster came into his own on Saturday, lighting up the nine-race card with a four-timer. Roman had raced to 101 with wins aboard SENSATIONAL SATIN and UNCAPTUREDEMPRESS in the first and third events, respectively.

Roman, aiming for redemption, has five rides on Sunday’s nine-race card, including rejuvenated foreigner DIGITAL ONE facing Foster aboard local-bred MILOS in the Vassell ‘Jolly Man’ Memorial for overnight-allowance runners at five and a half furlongs.

Last Sunday, the house erupted when Roman’s importee, SISTREN TREASURE, out-battled MONEY MISER with Foster in the Typewriter Cup at a mile after a stirring stretch duel.

DIGITAL ONE and MILOS are no strangers. A neck separated them at the wire on June 29, a showdown at seven furlongs. MILOS, partnered by Robert Halledeen, got the better of DIGITAL ONE with Foster, a sweeping move from the three-pole to get first run on the leaders before holding the charging American at bay.

However, DIGITAL ONE appeared improved with new equipment fitted since being moved to Gary Subratie’s barn. Fitted with a tongue tie and figure eight for a September 15 crack at five furlongs round, DIGITAL ONE pounced on MONEY MARKET a half-mile out, quickening away in the stretch run for a four-length win in 59.3.

Though MILOS is a game run-on sprinter, the local-bred could have problems matching DIGITAL ONE’s speed at five and a half furlongs.

The Vassell ‘Jolly Man’ Memorial closes the nine-race card set to run off at noon.
