The police are probing the circumstances which led to the death of a man in Watchwell, St Elizabeth, this after his body was reportedly found in what has been described as a large water-filled pothole in the community on Friday.
Family members are theorising that the man may have been intoxicated at the time he possibly fell off his bicycle and landed in the pothole.
The deceased is 58-year-old Venroy Blackwood, a block maker of Ridge Pen district in the parish.
Reports are that Blackwood's body was seen lying face down in the pothole at about 10pm. His bicycle was near the body.
According to his family members, the pothole was huge, and it was filled with water, which they said was caused by a leaking pipe on the roadway.
The family members have expressed the belief that Blackwood fell face down in the pothole and may have drowned because of his purported intoxicated state.
The police are awaiting a post-mortem report to determine the cause of death.
