Matthew Samuda was on Tuesday sworn in as the Member of Parliament (MP) for St Ann North Eastern.
He took the Oath of Allegiance at about 2:10 pm.
The former senator who represents the governing Jamaica Labour Party, comfortably won the September 30 by-election which came about after Marsha Smith who won the seat in the 2020 general election, resigned.
Samuda was welcomed to the House of Representatives by Leader of Government Business, Edmund Bartlett, and Leader of Opposition Business, Phillip Paulwell.
The newly-sworn MP thanked Smith for her representation and also spoke to the work done by the late Shahine Robinson who represented the constituency for nearly 20 years from 2001 until 2020.
He promised to work hard on behalf of his constituents.
