Man caught on video stoning bus

Transport Minister Daryl Vaz is calling on a man, seen in a viral video throwing objects at a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus, to surrender to the nearest police station.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Minister Vaz stated that both the individual, identified only as "Mr White," and the vehicle he was driving have been identified. Reports indicate that the man is a taxi operator.

The incident, which allegedly took place in a section of the Corporate Area last week, began circulating on social media on Sunday. The video shows a man, purported to be the taxi driver, sprinting towards the bus with objects in hand. With force, he hurls these objects at the bus, shattering its windows and sending glass fragments into the vehicle.

Passengers on board watched in shock as the attack unfolds. The man quickly retreats to his vehicle, believed to be a taxi, while passengers urge the JUTC driver to reverse the bus. In the process, the bus makes contact with the side of the taxi, temporarily halting its escape. The video ends as the taxi stops in front of the bus, and the driver exits, moving towards the sidewalk.

The police have not yet commented on the motive behind the attack. The dramatic footage, apparently filmed by a passenger on the JUTC bus, continues to make rounds on social media.
