4-hour water lock-off scheduled for many communities in 3 parishes

The National Water Commission (NWC) has advised that operations at the Martha Brae Treatment Plant in Trelawny is scheduled to be temporarily suspended on Friday, October 18, between the hours of 2pm and 6pm.

The disruption is to facilitate urgent valve replacement work at the facility.

As a result, a significant number of customers in St James, Trelawny and St Ann who are served by this facility, will experience a disruption in their water supply.

The areas to be affected in St James include Greenwood, Rose Hall, Coral Gardens, Ironshore, Rhyne Park, Spot Valley, Cornwall, Mt Zion, Palmyra, Saigon, Barrett Town and Providence Heights.

The areas to be affected in Trelawny include Falmouth, Royalton Hotel, Rock, Cooper’s Pen, Granville, Green Park, Schawfield, Silver Sands, Duncan’s Bay, Carey Park, Stewart Castle, Salt Marsh, Davis Pen, Stonebrook Vista, Florence Hall Village, Coral Spring Village, Wiltshire, Hague, Hague Housing scheme, Daniel Town, Hammersmith and Retreat Heights.

The areas to be affected in St Ann include Discovery Bay, Bridgewater Heights, Primrose Hill, Lakeside Park, Hopewell Park and Old Folly.

The NWC has encouraged the affected customers to store water for use during the outlined period, and said every effort will be made to complete the necessary work within the specified time.
