Corporal Junior Thompson from Area 5, has been named the 2024 LASCO JCF Saluting Our Heroes Chairman Award winner.
Corporal Thompson distinguished himself among 157 nominees. His recognition highlights a commitment to community-based policing that has been described as transformative for the residents he serves.
Upon receiving the award, Corporal Thompson expressed gratitude to his divisional managementteam for their role in his journey. “Their mentorship has been both inspirational and a drivingforce behind my career growth,” Thompson remarked, underscoring the importance of supportwithin the JCF.
Thompson also credited the encouragement of his friend and last year’s award winner, CorporalJayanne Raymond, whom he described as a “guiding light.” Her counsel, he shared, remindedhim that “success is within reach,” an outlook that continues to drive his work within the force.
Building Safer Communities Through RehabilitationSpeaking with the JCF’s Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Corporal Thompsonrevealed his motivation to address the root causes of crime, particularly among youth. Observingthe cycle of limited opportunities and crime, he initiated a rehabilitation and skills trainingprogram aimed at breaking this cycle and reintegrating young offenders into society.
His focus on reducing recidivism reflects a broader vision for building safer and more resilientcommunities through proactive policing.
Addressing his peers, Thompson encouraged not just the finalists but all officers within the JCF toembrace their role as protectors of the nation. “Together, we will continue to uplift and protectour communities. I am honoured to serve alongside every police officer in every area, in everydivision,” he declared, setting a tone of unity and purpose.
