A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) was placed before the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, charged with murder and using a firearm to commit a felony, contrary to the Firearm (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act, 2022.
Constable Kevin Dilworth was granted bail in the sum of $400,000 with one to two sureties and reporting conditions.
His next court date is scheduled for February 7, 2025.
The charges against him arose from a completed investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and the submission of a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for a ruling.
Dilworth was charged in relation to the August 22, 2023 off-duty fatal shooting of 47-year-old, Conrad Mahabeer along Brunswick Crescent in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
It is alleged that an altercation between the two men resulted in the officer discharging his firearm.
