‘Wanted man’ slapped with murder charges while in custody

A farmer, who was taken into custody after he was slapped with wounding with intent and using a firearm to commit a felony has found himself in more trouble with the law.

The man 29-year-old Lico Maxwell, a farmer of Flamstead, St James, is facing additional charges following an incident in Back Wood, Pimento Hill, German Town, St James.

The police in a release from the Constabulary Communication Network, which is the information arm of the constabulary, said that Maxwell is now being charged with two counts of murder and four counts of wounding with intent.

Reports are that approximately 5:00 pm, on Sunday, October 9, 2022, a group of men was sitting at a shop in the community of Back Wood, when armed men traveling in a motor car stopped and exited the vehicle.

The release from the police said reports suggest that the men brandished firearms and opened gunfire at the crowd; injuring multiple persons, before escaping in the area in the said motor car.

The police were summoned, and on arrival, several persons were seen with multiple gunshot wounds.

They were taken to the hospital, where Leslie was pronounced dead and the other men admitted in serious but stable condition.

On Friday, November 8, the charges were laid against Maxwell as he awaits his court date for the other charges.
