Secrets Hotel workers protest
Scores of disgruntled workers at the Secrets Hotel Montego Bay staged a demonstration outside the property Tuesday morning in protest over inadequate pay and being overworked, among other things.
The workers, who have been out since early Tuesday morning, insist that they will keep up the protest until their concerns have been addressed.
Opposition spokesperson on tourism Senator Janice Allen has since met with the workers and expressed plans to meet with the hotel management in an effort to iron out the issues.
Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright is also expected to visit the hotel to engage with stakeholders.
Last month, a senior manager at Royalton Negril was suspended in connection with a worker demonstration at the resort.
On Friday, during a presentation in Senate Government Senator Kavan Gayle, who is also a senior trade unionist, came out in full support of tourism workers.
