Less than a week before Christmas when Jamaicans are busy rushing to put in place last minute preparations to celebrate the holiday, a 75-year-old lady sits by the side of the road tears rolling down her face as she has no place to live

The woman Patricia Vanhorn is a long standing citizen from the community of Maverley and she is claiming that she has been evicted from her home.

Five days before Christmas she says she has no place to live.

Reports coming from out of the community is that the place where she once lived has been sold and despite several warning for her to move she has failed.

but the woman is claiming that moving is not as easy as it sounds.

"Things have been rough, I barely have money to eat and I am struggling ," said the distraught woman, who is a well known 'dress maker' in the community.

To make matters worse the senior citizen is claiming that she has reached out for help but have been abandoned by persons closest to her.

Citizens in the community claim that Vanhorn has a child living over seas but that off spring has ignored her calls for help.

In addition to this, the woman, who who makes it her duty to clean and sweep the sections of the street where she lives on a daily basis, is claiming that the politicians from both sides have also ignored her distress call.

" When it was election time they came for me to vote, I have also reached out to even the opposition but nothing," said the woman as she fights to hold back the tears.

Word coming from out of the community is that suggestions have been made for her to go to the homeless shelter in downtown Kingston but it appears pride has gotten the best of the long standing citizen of the community.

"I guess all I am seeking is a place to lay my head for Christmas," the distraught woman said.

Vanhorn says she is calling out for help from any good Samaritan, who has heard of her case and can help.
