Four-year-old filly BOOTYLICIOUS delivered a commanding performance to claim victory in the grade-one Chris Armond Memorial Sprint at Caymanas Park on Tuesday, as the ‘Seven Days of Christmas’ racing festival continued.
Carrying just 104 pounds, BOOTYLICIOUS showcased her blistering speed over the five-and-a-half-furlong distance, leading from start to finish to dismiss the imported pair of Mouttet Mile runners, DESERT OF MALIBU and PACK PLAYS.
Throttled on the lead down the backstretch, BOOTYLICIOUS found extra in the stretch run when DESERT OF MALIBU came calling, handing Panamanian Ismael Velasquez his first winner at Caymanas Park.
Bought back at the November 10 Mixed Sale for $3 million by trainer Peter Parsard, BOOTYLICIOUS has so far earned $1.8 million in six weeks.
Title-chasing Tevin Foster lit up the nine-race card with four winners.
Foster, who started the day three wins behind leader Raddesh Roman, reduced the deficit to one winner with his four-timer, opening the card by sweeping the first two events with WARSAW and MUSKETOON.
Racing continues on Thursday's Boxing Day and reaches season end on Saturday.
