Holmwood Technical High School and Edwin Allen High dominated proceedings at the JAAA/Puma Fuller/Anderson Development Meet, held at GC Foster College on Saturday. Both schools claimed five victories on the track, with Edwin Allen further excelling in field events, winning three of the five titles on offer.
Holmwood Technical swept the 400m events, with all their victories coming in record-breaking fashion.
Tracey-Ann Evans obliterated her own meet record in the Girls’ Class Three 400m, clocking 56.41 seconds in Section 8 to erase the 57.83 mark she set last year. Kevina Bourne of Port Antonio High secured second place overall after winning Section 5 with a time of 57.86 seconds. Edwin Allen’s Romeann Gray claimed third overall, clocking 58.19 seconds to win Section One.
Annastacia Hall led the eight sections in the Girls’ Class Two 400m with 56.22 seconds to break the meet record of 56.55 set in 2019 by Daniella Deer, another standout from Holmwood Technical. Teammate Maddison Campbell secured second place overall with 56.89, ahead of Alphansus Davis High’s Shanika Lindsay (57.52).
Abrina Wright claimed the Girls’ Class One 400m title with a time of 55.06, breaking the 19-year-old record of 55.70 set by Holmwood alumna Schillonie Calvert. Anecia Campbell of Bellefield High placed second, clocking 55.62 to also surpass the previous mark. Camio White, representing Holmwood, finished third with a time of 56.97.
Holmwood Technical also showcased their dominance in middle-distance events by securing two of the three 800m titles on offer.
In the Girls’ Class Two 800m, Jovi Rose led the field with a time of 2:18.30, emerging as the fastest across the three sections. Alikay Reynolds of Alphansus Davis High School came in second with a time of 2:18.39, narrowly ahead of Edwin Allen High’s Kevongaye Fowler, who finished third in 2:18.40.
Holmwood swept the podium in the Class One category. Uganda’s Florence Nafamba delivered a commanding performance, clocking 2:15.99 to secure the title. Cindy Rose claimed second in 2:16.21, while Terrica Clarke completed the top three with a time of 2:16.68.
Meanwhile, Romeann Gray of Edwin Allen took top honours in Class Three, setting a new meet record of 2:21.87. The previous record of 2:22.84, set by St Jago High’s Jada Fletcher last year, was erased in a commanding display.
Edwin Allen High displayed remarkable dominance in the 200 metres, capturing three of the four titles on offer.
Adrianna Pine emerged victorious in the Girls’ Class Four 200m, clocking 25.61 to top the 19 sections. Holmwood Technical athletes Adelia Simpson (25.99) and Aliona Crawford (26.19) secured second and third overall, respectively.
In Class Three, Kerelle Etienne claimed the title for Edwin Allen with a time of 24.53. Holmwood Technical’s Annastacia Hall followed closely with 24.74, while St Jago High’s Adora Campbell rounded out the top three in 25.10.
Jounee Armstrong delivered a strong performance in Class One, winning with 24.21. She held off Holmwood Technical’s Doniellia Lewis (24.25) and Abrina Wright (24.55) to secure the top spot.
The Class Two title went to standout Ferncourt High sprinter Rihanna Scott, who clocked 25.25. Edwin Allen’s Danelia Clarke finished second with a time of 25.28, narrowly ahead of Holmwood Technical’s Tracey-Ann Evans, who secured third in 25.37 after her earlier success in the 400m.

Edwin Allen athletes dominated the field events, securing three long jump titles and setting new meet records in two of the categories.
Samoya Warren led the way in the Girls’ Class Four long jump, delivering a 4.93m effort to eclipse the previous record of 4.77m set by Deandra Fitten of St Jago High last year. Salonica Graham of Merl Grove High also surpassed the old mark, finishing second with a leap of 4.83m.
In Class Three, Dashanelle Clarke claimed victory with a jump of 5.22m, breaking the meet record of 4.85m set by Holmwood Technical’s Tiyana Peart last year. Peart improved on her previous best but had to settle for second place with a jump of 5.11m.
Deijanae Bruce secured the Class One long jump title for Edwin Allen with a winning effort of 5.73m. Her teammate, Ishna James, completed the one-two finish with a leap of 5.34m.
Dawaunea Lewis of Merl Grove High won the Class Two long jump with a distance of 5.30m, while Chloe Palmer of St Elizabeth Technical clinched the Girls’ Triple Jump Open title with a mark of 12.59m.

On the boys’ side, four meet records were set, with Calabar High claiming two of them in field events.
Romaine Lewis of Calabar broke the Boys’ Class One long jump record with a leap of 7.44m, surpassing the previous mark of 6.52m set by Anthony Hall of B.B. Coke High School last year. Kingston College’s (KC) Jevaughn Samuels (6.99m) and Calabar’s Shevaughn Pryce (6.63m) finished second and third, respectively, both surpassing the previous record.
Shamar Shaw of Calabar set another record in the Boys’ Class Three long jump, jumping 6.21m to eclipse the 5.76m mark set by Javian Grant of Jonathan Grant High School last year. Shavoy Stewart of STETHS also improved on the previous record with a jump of 5.87m to claim second place, while Calabar’s Imaney Samuels was third with 5.58m.
In the Class Two long jump, KC’s Omarian Miller jumped 7.37m, which exceeded the previous record of 5.64m but was ruled ineligible due to an illegal wind speed of 2.8m/s. Walters Rodeeki of STETHS (6.98m) and Richard Green of Calabar (6.39m) rounded out the podium, with Green surpassing the previous meet record under legal wind conditions of 0.9m/s.
Shakeem Ebanks added a third victory for Calabar, winning the Boys’ 5000m open in 17:03.16, ahead of GC Foster College’s Nathaniel Wallace (17:21.97) and Bellefield High’s Javaughn Henry (17:34.29).
St Jago High shone on the track, taking three victories, including two in the 400m. Khieme Campbell was the fastest in the Boys’ Class Three 400m, clocking 52.31 to lead a one-two finish for St Jago, with teammate Javarie Edwards (53.18) in second.
Rushane Richards delivered a record-breaking performance in the Class Two 400m, finishing in 49.06 to surpass the previous mark of 49.44 set by Charles Wright of St Catherine High last year. Deron Richards of Knox College (50.82) and Usain Bernard of Petersfield High (51.07) completed the top three.
In the Boys’ Class One 800m, Ryan Acahu of St Jago High dominated with a time of 1:54.91, adding to his earlier 5000m win at the Wesley Powell meet in December. Excelsior’s Ricardo Carr (1:55.38) and Edwin Allen’s Joel Morgan (1:56.23) finished second and third, respectively.

Moses Johnson of Edwin Allen took the Class Two 800m title in 2:01.14, while Tyrone Turner of Manchester High broke the meet record in Class Three with a time of 2:06.09.
KC secured a second victory in the Class Two 200m through Jordan Rehedul, who clocked 22.09. Manchester High’s Ajhai Wiggan won the Class Three title in 23.26, and Edwin Allen’s Antonio Powell claimed the Class One crown with a time of 21.75.
