Set in the heart of Kingston, Jazz in the Gardens, an annual musical showcase is a hub for incredible established and up-and-coming talent.

What to expect for jazz lovers? An evening of outstanding performances from a star-studded line-up that features the stylings of Fab 5, Everton Pessoa and his Big Band, Gem Myers, Tammy T, Bunny Rose, and Soulchild Tanice.

Jazz in the Gardens appeals to every generation and, for the past 10 years, have provided both philanthropic and entertainment values.

These are five reasons to attend this year’s Jazz in the Gardens, slated for Sunday, January 19.

1Charitable Impact: The festival will support three vital charities — the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation, the Best Care Foundation, and the Voluntary Organization for the Upliftment of Children (VOUCH) — making it one of Kingston's most philanthropic musical celebrations.

2Location: The event is a quarterly fest that takes place on the Jamaica Pegasus Gardens, a participant of the Jamaica National Commission for UNESCO’s Kingston: Creative City of Music.

3VIP Experience: Jazz in the Gardens is all premium, festival organisers have offered a special seating option where savoury hors d’oeuvres and cocktail mixes are provided.

4 Production value and tradition: Hosted by emcee Vernon Derby, the affair, orchestrated by event planner powerhouse Shikima Hinds, who continues a 20-year tradition of exceptional music and cultural celebration.

5 Bigger, better, showcase: Since the festival was postponed last December to a new date, what better way to usher in the new year than with the best of the best in Jazz and Reggae?

As Hinds explained, ‘Music has the power to unite and transform… by partnering with the Women’s Centre, the Festival of Jazz in the Gardens transcends entertainment, becoming a platform for meaningful social change.’

‘Together,’ Hinds added, ‘we can inspire and support the incredible women in our communities.'
