St Thomas woman arrested, accused of fleecing over $1m

Detectives attached to the Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) 
have arrested and charged a St Thomas resident following a number of fraudulent incidents between Saturday November 11 and Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Reports from the lawmen are that on Saturday, January 11, 2025; three complainants attended the station and reported that 31-year-old Rakim Rasheena Ramsay a secretary of Cottage lane, Yallahs, St Thomas collected $409,500 from each of them. It is alleged that Ramsay while posing as a travel consultant solicited the money from the complaints, to supply Canadian work permits.

Ramsay who was not able to return the monies, and used the monies for her own benefit was subsequently arrested and charged based on complainants’ statements and a question and answer session. 

She was charged for Fraudulent Conversion, Obtaining Money by False Pretence and 
Conspiracy to Defraud.
