A 22-year-old man has been charged after he reportedly opened fire at a group of people sitting on a verandah in St James the middle of last year.

Police report that the man Oneek Henry was pointed out in a identification parade on January 14 of this year.

The man also called ‘CJ’ of the Top Hill, Mount Carey section of the parish has since been charged with several offences following the incident.

He has been charged with shooting with intent (3 counts), possession of prohibited
weapon, possession of firearm with intent to Injure, using firearm to commit a felony
and discharge of firearm in any place.

According to reports from the Montego Bay police, about 5:45 pm, three complainants were on their veranda when Henry allegedly approached their gate and opened fire in their direction.

The complainants ran inside their house and locked the door in a bid to escape injury.

Once the shooting subsided, they discovered bullet indentations on their veranda wall and bullet holes in the trunk and seats of a Toyota Noah motor car.

No one was injured during the incident.

Henry escaped on foot in the area.

He later surrendered to the police in the company of his attorney, where a question and answer interview was conducted with him.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Henry was positively identified by the complainants on an identification parade, after which he was charged.

His court date is being finalised.
