Cardiologist Dr Claudine Lewis has revealed that, on average, one in four Jamaicans is likely to have an undiagnosed heart condition.

According to the Montego Bay-based physician, hypertensive heart disease is the most common ailment she encounters in patient visits, making it a persistent public health concern.

"Based on our population here in Jamaica, and our healthy lifestyle survey, 25 per cent of adults have high blood pressure," Dr Lewis disclosed.

As the owner and managing director of Heart Smart Centre, Dr Lewis discusses heart disease in the latest edition of Health in 5, where she also shares expert advice on heart-friendly foods and essential exercises for better overall health.
