Jamaica Public Service customers who get estimated bills after hurricane melissa, are being advised that these should be calculated based on the consumption pattern for previous months.
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) noted that this is part of requirements of the utility provider, under the guaranteed standards.
Consumer Affairs Policy Specialist at the OUR Ms. Collette Goode gave the explanation while responding to questions during yesterday’s sitting of parliaments public administration and appropriation committee meeting.
Ms. Goode noted that JPS smart metre reading was affected due to network disruption, after the storm.
She also noted that JPS should ensure that customers’ charges are as reasonable as possible.
