Funds donated to government’s Hurricane Melissa platform to go towards purchasing of building supplies for victims

The funds donated to the government’s Hurricane Melissa platform will go towards the purchasing of building supplies for persons whose homes were damaged by the category 5 system.
Director General of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) Commander Alvin Gayle gave the update during a post cabinet press briefing yesterday.
He said so far J$780 million has been donated.
His comments were echoed by Information Minister Dr Dana Morris Dixon who reiterated that regional and international partners such as Guyana, Ghana, Ethiopia and Rwanda will be working alongside the Jamaica Defence Force to repair the houses.
