The Chinese medical ship which docked on the island’s shores on December 4 has served more than 4000 patients and is to depart the island’s waters on Tuesday December 16.

Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton made the revelation during a press conference this morning.

The ship first docked in Montego Bay, St. James then moved to Port Royal in Kingston on December 8 and is now docked at Falmouth, Trelawny.

Dr. Tufton praised the Chinese government noting that the ship does not normally dock at more than one port in a single country.

He said so far, over 400 surgeries have been completed.
