Six hundred and thirty eight murders were recorded in Jamaica up to Saturday December 13.
This is 480 fewer than the 1,118 recorded in the similar period last year.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, St. Andrew south recorded the highest number of murders with 72, followed by St. Catherine north with 62.
Portland had the least with 10, followed by Trelawny with 13.
Meanwhile, the JCF is reporting that cases of rape have declined by 114.
Robberies increased by 54, and break-ins by 176.
