Official funeral service for the late Reggae singer, Jimmy Cliff to be held today

The official funeral service for the late Reggae singer, Jimmy Cliff will be held today at the National Indoor Sports Centre, in Kingston.

The service is to begin at 3:00 P.M.

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness will deliver the national tribute.

Jimmy, whose real name is James Chambers died on November 24 at the age of 81.

According to Minister of Culture and Entertainment Olivia Grange said Jimmy is being accorded an official funeral by the government “for his immense contribution to Jamaican culture and entertainment.

The arrangements are being finalized by the Office of the Prime Minister in consultation with the culture ministry and the family of the acclaimed musician, singer and actor.

The service will feature only spoken word, dance and music in keeping with Jimmy’s wishes.
