Constable Noel Maitland will return to court today, when the matter relating to the death of media influencer Donalee Donaldson, resumes.
The case is being heard before Justice Leighton Pusey.
Defense lawyers made a no case submission and on Friday the judge ruled against it and told the lawyers to be ready for the case to proceed today.
Constable Maitland is charged with murder and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse.
He has been in custody since July 2022, when investigators determined that the missing 24-year-old woman should be presumed dead.
The trial began last May.
