St. Elizabeth leads in road deaths for 2026; parish records 5 of the total 11 fatalities

St. Elizabeth has recorded the majority of the 11 road fatalities since the start of the year.
Data from the Island Traffic Authority show that 5 of the deaths occurred in St. Elizabeth, with 4 people killed at the weekend.
Trelawny recorded 2 fatalities and St. James, St. Ann, St. Andrew and St. Catherine each recorded one traffic fatality.
The crash report also indicates that private motor vehicle passengers account for 7 of the fatalities and private motor vehicle drivers account for two .
The other two fatalities were a pedestrian and a pedal cyclist .
The same period last year had one more fatality with 12 deaths.
