Ghanaian soldiers who are assisting with hurricane Melissa recovery are to remain in Jamaica for an extended period.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the revelation today.
Mr. Ablakwa arrived in the island on Saturday for an official three-day visit.
He held bilateral talks with his Jamaican counterpart, Kamina Johnson-Smith, today.
Speaking following the meeting, Mr. Ablakwa said the soldiers’ mission was initially slated to last 30 days.
He said it has been extended to 90 days.
Minister Johnson-Smith praised the Ghanaian team for assisting Jamaica.
She described the troops as professional and compassionate.
