Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says for the first time in decades, Jamaica is expected to record, this January, the lowest number of murders in a single month.
In 2025, the country saw a major reduction in crime, ending with 673 murders, the lowest in 31 years.
As at Saturday January 24, 2026 Jamaica saw 27 murders, 32 fewer than the 59 recorded in the same period last year.
Speaking in St. Andrew yesterday, Dr. Holness said murders continue to decline.
